Note: I was sent samples of Goldswarm Honey in order to make this Honey Glazed Orange Ginger Shrimp. Opinions are mine alone.

Just wait until you try this Honey Glazed Orange Ginger Shrimp! The shrimp is marinated in a garlic-ginger-Chinese five spice, then tossed in an orange honey glaze and is served over rice for a wonderfully flavorful weeknight meal!

Honey Glazed Orange Ginger Shrimp

I was sent this recipe along with some absolutely delicious honey from Goldswarm Honey, a luxury honey sourced from the wildflowers of West Africa.

Goldswarm Honey

With its bold floral notes and deep caramel undertone, Goldswarm elevates any dish or drink into a gourmet experience. Unlike mass-produced honey, Goldswarm is ethically harvested from Nigerian beehives and completely free of preservatives, additives, and heat processing – preserving its rich antioxidants and nutrients.

Goldswarm Honey

This recipe for Honey Glazed Orange Ginger Shrimp seemed like the perfect way to test out (and highlight) Goldswarm Honey!

Honey Glazed Orange Ginger Shrimp

Ingredients (serves 4):

  • 1 lb. large peeled and deveined shrimp (20-25 count)
  • 5 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tablespoon finely diced ginger or ginger paste
  • 2 tablespoons low-sodium soy sauce
  • ½ teaspoon Chinese five-spice powder, plus more for garnish
  • 1 cup orange juice
  • 2 teaspoons cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons honey, such as Goldswarm Honey
  • 1 tablespoon canola oil
  • salt and pepper, to taste
  • ¼ cup chopped scallions
  • 2 cups cooked rice

To make the Honey Glazed Orange Ginger Shrimp, first marinate your shrimp. Add the garlic, ginger, Chinese five-spice powder, and soy sauce in a medium sized bowl, whisking to combine.

Add in the shrimp and toss to fully coat. Cover and let marinate for 20 minutes.

While waiting for the shrimp to marinate, make your rice.

Combine the orange juice and honey in a small bowl.

Whisk in the cornstarch until it is fully dissolved.

When the shrimp is done marinating, heat the oil in a large saute pan or wok over high heat.

Add in the marinated shrimp using a slotted spoon or tongs. Saute for 2 to 4 minutes, or until the shrimp turn pink. Discard the remaining marinade.

Once the shrimp are pink, pour in the orange-honey cornstarch mixture into the pan with the shrimp.

Stir continuously for 1 to 2 minutes, until the sauce thickens into a glossy glaze coating the shrimp. Season with salt and pepper, to taste.

To serve, add the rice to a bowl. Using a slotted spoon or tongs, top with the shrimp. then drizzle with some of the orange-honey glaze.  Sprinkle with some more Chinese five-spice powder and garnish with scallions.

Honey Glazed Orange Ginger Shrimp

The orange-honey glaze is a nice balance of sweet and citrus.

Paired with the garlic and ginger and the warmth of the Chinese five spice powder, this dish is filled with flavor!

Make sure to add more of the honey-ginger glaze to the rice!
