Baked Brie

Jump to Recipe Print Recipe
There is a Moroccan restaurant in the Fairmount section of Philadelphia called Figs that has the most fantastic Baked Brie dish. It comes in a clay pot and is topped with honey, lavender and almonds.
Baked Brie
I randomly had a craving for this appetizer this weekend and decided to try to make my own.
Baked Brie

Ingredients:

  • 1 wheel of brie
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1/4 cup sliced almonds
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 2 tablespoons dried cranberries
  • Day Old Bread, or Toasted Pita

To prepare, preheat your oven to 350 degrees. Slice off the rind on the top of your brie. Add brie to an oven safe ramekin or a brie baker.

Slice the bread. If it is fresh, add it to a baking dish so that you can toast it in the oven.
Add butter to a small pot and melt over medium high heat. When it foams, add in the almonds, stirring to coat in the butter.
Toast the almonds in the butter for 2 to 3 minutes.
Stir in the honey dried cranberries and continue to cook for another 2 to 3 minutes.
Pour the cranberry almond mixture over the brie wheel and cover.
Add the covered brie to your oven and bake for 10 to 15 minutes. (The bread should go in for about 3 to 5 minutes to harden a bit)

Remove from the oven and serve with bread or pita triangles.

Baked Brie

I love how easy this dish is. It’s the perfect “emergency” appetizer, you can make it in minutes!
Baked Brie
The baked brie spreads easily on the bread and the almonds, honey and craisins really complement the creaminess of the cheese!

Cool I’ve only ever baked Brie wrapped in pastry. My only issue with this is I’ eat way too much of it.

What a great idea. Speaking of hurricanes you could ue an foil pan and put it on the grill if you are out of power. Thanks for sharing.

Looks heavenly! I had this as an appetizer at my wedding. It was what people raved about the most. Unfortunately for me it was gone before I got to have any. Loving it!
