Note: I was sent samples of Bear Mountain BBQ Wood Pellets in order to write this post. Opinions are mine alone.
With Memorial Day right around the corner, it’s time for more recipes using Bear Mountain BBQ Wood Pellets! This one is a bit different than my previous two posts fort Smoked Potato Salad and Smoked Wings… this time I’m bringing you dessert: a Smoker Grilled S’mores Skillet to be exact!
As a city girl, I don’t exactly get a lot of opportunities to roast some marshmallows over an open fire, but I do love s’mores!
This recipe takes a s’mores skillet one step further and lets it smoke on the grill with some of Bear Mountain’s Bourbon BBQ Wood Pellets.
Ingredients:
- 1 cup Bear Mountain Bourbon BBQ Wood Pellets
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 3 milk chocolate candy bars
- 3 dark chocolate candy bars
- 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1 (12 oz) bag marshmallows
- graham crackers, for serving
Preheat your grill to 225 to 250 degrees F, keeping one side of the grill off to have a place for indirect heat for the skillet. Add the pellets to a small aluminum tin and top with aluminum foil. Poke a few holes in the top of the foil.
Place the tin with the pellets over direct heat.
Next, prepare your skillet. Using a 10 inch cast iron pan, add 1 tablespoon butter and put over indirect heat in your grill. When melted, bush the cast iron evenly with the melted butter.
Carefully add in the candy bars, breaking them up so you can evenly place the pieces throughout the skillet. Next add in the chocolate chips and spread to form an even layer.
Top with the marshmallows – they will spread as they heat up so a little room in between the marshmallows is ok.
Close the grill and let smoke for 10 to 15 minutes, or until the marshmallows expand and are a light golden brown.
Carefully remove the skillet and serve with graham crackers.
The subtle smokiness of the Bourbon BBQ Wood Pellets comes through.
If you close your eyes, you’d think you were around a campfire!
