Snow cones (or snow balls, depending on where you are from) are synonymous with summer, boardwalks, and childhood. Shaved ice topped with a flavored sugar syrup are a refreshing treat on hot days. Francis Ford Coppola Winery offers Skylite Snowball Cocktail Syrups that pair perfectly with Coppola wine offerings for adult snow cones! I was sent a bottle of Francis Ford Coppola Chardonnay to try out this fun treat and paired it with the Skylite Pink Grapefruit Syrup to make Coppola Chardonnay Pink Grapefruit Snow Cones and Frozen Cocktails!
Ingredients (makes 1):
- 2 tablespoons Diamond Collection Chardonnay
- 1/2 tablespoons Skylight Pink Grapefruit Syrup
- 5 oz shaved ice
To make the shaved ice, you can either use a snow cone machine or use your blender/food processor. Depending on what type of blender you have, it might come out more crushed instead of shaved. That’s a ok too.
Add the shaved ice to a snow cone cup or to a small glass.
Pour 2 tablespoons of the Chardonnay and 1/2 tablespoons of the Pink Grapefruit Syrup over the ice.
Add a straw and enjoy!
I’m not going to lie, I’ve never really gotten the overall point of a snow cone except that it cools you down. I always find it to end up kind of tasting like you are eating, well, ice, with some syrup at the bottom.
So I decided to also make a frozen cocktail using the same ingredients.
Ingredients:
- 6 oz ice
- 4 oz Diamond Collection Chardonnay
- 1 tablespoon Skylite Pink Grapefruit Syrup
Add all ingredients to a blender and process until smooth. Add to a glass (margarita, martini, or rocks) and enjoy with a straw.
Ahh. This allowed the taste of the Chardonnay and the Pink Grapefruit Syrup to shine through.
Either way you prefer to have these, they are a perfect treat for Labor Day, don’t you think?
