Ingredients: (recipe makes 3 larger burgers or 4 smaller burgers)
- 1 pound ground turkey
- 1 tablespoon chili powder
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoons finely diced red bell pepper
- 2 tablespoons pico de gallo
- 2 tablespoons sliced green onions (scallions)
- 3-4 hamburger buns
- 3-4 slices of Sargento® Ultra Thin® Colby Jack Cheese Slices
- 1/2 avocado, sliced
- pico de gallo, for topping
Combine the turkey, chili powder, garlic powder, smoked paprika, salt, bell pepper, 2 tablespoons pico de gallo, and green onions in a large bowl.
Shape into 3-4 patties. (I ended up with 3, but I like a larger burger!)
Preheat your grill over medium-high heat. Add the patties to the grill and cook for 5 minutes on each side. Set aside.
Grill your hamburger buns and add the burgers to the buns.
Top with Sargento® Ultra Thin® Colby Jack Cheese Slices, a scoop of pico de gallo, and a few slices of avocado.
I served this with some tortilla chips and the remaining pico de gallo. The burgers were super juicy because of the addition of the bell peppers and pico de gallo and had great flavor from the seasonings!
The thinly sliced cheese added cheesy goodness without being overpowering. If you like a bit of heat, Sargeno® also has an Ultra Thin® Pepper Jack Cheese that would be delicious on this burger!
